Introduction

Governor's Cup 21

After many years of debate and countless reviews and water tests, the SMSC Keelboat unification committee (comprised of self-appointed weekend J-boat racers) has decided to support the addition of the new Governor’s Cup 21 keelboat to the weekend racing fleet.  Five GC-21 boats in all will be taking part in true level racing at SMSC this year!

The state-of-the-art Governor’s Cup 21 is built by Bravura Yachts, Inc. in Southern California.  The GC-21 boat was commissioned by the Newport Balboa Sailing and Seamanship Association (NBSSA) for the prestigious Governor's Cup Match Racing Series.  Taking its name from the Governor's Cup, the Alan Andrews designed GC-21 embodies all the qualities of a high performance, tactical racer, including built-in toughness to withstand years of high intensity racing by the world's best junior and veteran sailors.

The GC-21 is ideally suited to the Muskoka racing scene and should entice our junior racers to participate more regularly in the weekend Club Races.  The GC-21 is fast, yet stable and employs only the very latest technologies, including a deep bulb type (torpedo) keel, Harken winch-free deck hardware, an open transom, and a carbon fiber spinnaker pole!

Watch for the new Governor’s Cup 21 fleet on Lake Muskoka this year.  It should make for some great Club racing!
