We all know there is no better way to spend a summer day than out on the water. And so it follows that the absolute best summer job is teaching sailing. The SMSC has a reputation of offering quality programs in a fun, dynamic environment. If you are someone who has a contagious passion for sailing and are interested in joining our team of instructors, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for people who are energetic, enthusiastic, responsible and committed. We are currently looking for instructors with their blue or red.

Applicants must achieve the minimum following requirements by the beginning of the Sailing School program in order to qualify as an instructor:
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- CYA Bronze Sail Level 4 sailing certificate.
- National Coaching Certificate Program (N.C.C.P.) Theory Level 1 certificate.
- Current St. John’s Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross Standard or Emergency first Aid certificate
- Current Life Saving Society Boat Rescue certificate or swimming award equal to or higher than Bronze Medallion.
- Pleasure Craft Operator's Card.
- Certification Received: CYA Level 1 (Green) Assistant Sailing Instructor

Blue and Red instructors may qualify for higher instructor positions, which will also influence your pay at the school.
Note that The Canadian Yachting Association does not provide instructor insurance until a person has reached their sixteenth birthday. Therefore, SMSC cannot allow anyone to instruct (onshore or off) until he/she is insured.
