Advanced Race Program

COME RACE WITH US!

Are you working toward your CANSail level 4 and are now ready to take your sailing to the next level? If yes, come and train with the Advanced Race Team!

The Advanced Program trains in double-hauled “420” boats and participates in multiple regattas throughout the summer. Athletes will build on the strong fundamental skills learned over the summers spent sailing at SMSC. At the advanced level, the focus of sailing instruction shifts to race skills and the physics of sailing theory lessons and students will be encouraged to expand their theory knowledge with various learning tools.

Training is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2-4pm and runs all season. Lessons are progressive, so maximum participation is encouraged to fully benefit from the program. Regatta eligibility and race boats will be assigned to sailing partners based on their commitment level.

Regattas are a fun way to get involved in the Muskoka sailing community and strengthen inter-club friendships. SMSC’s fleet of 420s are race-ready, so come out and join the Advanced Race team!
